Diwali Date 2013


We know that Indian have been many festivals celebrated every year. One of those is the Diwali also recognized as “festival of lights”. This is an Indian festival brings a sequence of festivals with it. During this season, they participate in some activities related to the celebration of Diwali. Diwali celebrates on the day of “Amavasyaa” typically on the month of October or else November. On this special day, they lit tiny diyas or earthen lamps in order to light up their houses that provide bright lights which create beautiful designs.

Diwali is also well-know for its five consecutive day celebration, each day has it own significant terms. The celebration begins on Aswayuja Bahula Chaturdashi and end on Kartika Shudha Vijaya. During the first day of the celebration, they worship Goddess Lakshmi and buy silver-made utensils: this first day of celebration also called as “Dhanteras” or “Dhan Trayodashi”. “Narak Chaturdashi”, popularly known as “Chhoti Diwali” is celebrates on the second day of Diwali celebration. The third day celebration is also known as “Badi Diwali” which is the most important day of the Diwali celebration. On this day, devotees perform worship of celestial Goddess Lakshmi or “Lakshmi Puja” and pray for her in order to ask for blessings and prosperity. On the fourth day, they commemorate it to Govardhan Pooja - the worship of Lord Govardhan Parvat. On the fifth and last day of Diwali celebration or “Bhai Dooj”, they admire the brother to/and sister relationship. Additionally, as apart of the festival celebration they are exchanging their sweets, gift and greetings to their family and friends together with synchronous bursting of crackers and fireworks. During this whole festival celebration, devotees worship their desired deities and follows Hinduism offer prayers.
