Diwali or Deepavali is also known as festival of lights, sweets and crackers. During the Diwali celebration, they are customary exchange their foods and sweets as part of their old tradition, so this is the reason why you can’t imagine a Diwali celebration without sweets and other foods particularly cook and prepare at home every season. People usually made those common sweets for this occasion such as Gajar Ka Halwa, Karanj, Besan Ke Ladoo, Jalebis, Gulab Jamun and many more.

The preparing of Diwali dishes is also depending on how they celebrate this occasion and the family and culture tradition they have. Diwali Recipes - Ingredients and Steps for Preparation

Doodh Pak

Ingredients:
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of pistachios
  • 250 grams of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder
  • 11/2 tablespoon of raisins
  • 1 teaspoon of saffron
  • 1/2 cup of almonds

Procedures:
  1. Marinate the almonds into temperate water for at least one hour. Peel and crush the almonds to make a paste. Melt the saffron into the milk and set aside for a while.
  2. Heat the milk while simultaneously stirring it. Add the crushed almonds and cook for approximately 35 minutes while stirring it continuously.
  3. Now, mix all the ingredients such as the sugar, melted saffron, raisins and the pistachios to the boiled milk with crushed almonds. Then heat it with a little amount of flame until it became a thick mixture.
  4. Lastly, drop the cardamom powder as a flavoring. Then there you go the Doodh Pak is finished and ready to serve.
Kheer

Ingredients:
  • 2-3 tablespoon of sugar
  • 2-3 pieces of crushed cardamom seeds
  • 1/4 cup of washed and drained long grain rice
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped pistachio seeds
  • 1 pinch of saffron threads that is already soaked in hot milk
  • 2 tablespoon of blanched slivered almonds
  • 1 tablespoon of raisins
  • 4-5 cups of milk
Procedure:
  1. Heat the mixture of milk, rice and crushed cardamom seeds into a pan until the rice become soft.
  2. Add saffron, pistachio, raisins and almonds then cook for approximately 4 minutes.
  3. Now, add sugar to the mixture and simultaneously stir until it completely melted.
  4. Lastly, take out from the heat and there you go, the Kheer is ready to serve.
